KATHMANDU, JULY 14
English language teachers and education professionals across Nepal and South Asia are invited to join the South Asia TeachingEnglish Online Conference 2025, a free three-day virtual event hosted by the British Council from July 17 to 19.
With the theme 'Supporting Teachers' Professional Development,' the conference will feature nine expert-led sessions and three panel discussions. It aims to equip primary and secondary school teachers with practical tools to enhance their classrooms through inclusive education, 21st-century skill integration, and the use of digital technology and AI.
The event will address how English teaching can become more inclusive, helping every learner feel valued; how to build critical thinking, collaboration, and global citizenship into lesson plans; and how AI and digital tools can enhance classroom learning.
Renowned speakers from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the UK, and Greece will bring decades of experience in teaching, research, and educational innovation to the conference. Their sessions are tailored to meet the regional challenges and realities faced by South Asian educators.
'True innovation comes not from tools alone, but from empathy, reflection, and a commitment to reaching every learner,' said Sarah Rogerson, Director of English and School Education at the British Council South Asia.
Among the Nepali speakers are Deepak Majhi, Inclusive Education Officer at CEHRD, and Dhak Bahadur Pun, a secondary school teacher and British Council Core Skills Educator. They will offer insights into integrating inclusive practices and soft skills in English teaching.
Other notable speakers include Emily Bryson (UK), known for inclusive and creative classroom strategies; Joe Dale (UK), an AI and edtech specialist; and Dr. Bimali Indrarathne (Sri Lanka), an expert in dyslexia and inclusive ELT.
Participants will receive e-certificates for each session attended. The conference is open to all educators, and registration is free via the British Council's official website.
