Truck helper electrocuted, two injured in Sarlahi

SARLAHI, JULY 17

A truck helper died and two workers were injured after being electrocuted while removing a tarpaulin from a truck parked at a food industry in Lalbandi Municipality-1, Sarlahi on Thursday morning.

According to a press note issued by the District Police Office, Sarlahi, the incident occurred at around 6:45 AM near Lakhandai Bridge at the New Maa Rajdevi Food Industry. The truck (Na 6 Kha 7550) had arrived from Rautahat to collect rice husk.

While removing the tarpaulin from the top of the truck, Dinesh Paswan, 30, son of Bhantu Paswan of Brindaban Municipality-7, Rautahat, came in contact with an 11,000-volt live wire. He was critically injured and rushed to Namuna Hospital, Hariban, where he was pronounced dead at 7:10 AM, informed DSP Saroj Rai, spokesperson for the District Police Office.

Two other workers - Kundan Paswan, 25, and Jageshwar Paswan, 40, also from Brindaban Municipality-7 - sustained electric shocks during the incident. Both are undergoing treatment at Namuna Hospital and are reported to be in moderate condition.

Truck driver Sheikh Lal Mohammad, 39, of Birgunj Metropolitan City-30, Parsa, assisted in the rescue and is also involved in supporting the injured, according to DSP Rai.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
