The Deerwalk Learning Center (DLC) has launched the DLC App, offering more than 3,500 free online lessons for school students across Nepal.

Unveiled at the Sagarmatha Hall in the Dearwalk Complex, Sifal on Tuesday, the app provides flipped classroom videos in Nepali, English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies for grades 4 to 11. The content, based on the national curriculum designed by the Curriculum Development Centre, Sanothimi, has been reorganized for easy, grade-wise, subject-wise, and lesson-wise access by students and teachers.

According to Deerwalk Group Limited Chairman Hitesh Karki, more than five million students and teachers have already benefited from the free video lessons previously available on the DLC website. 'We will soon produce videos for Grade 12 and undergraduate levels so that even more learners can benefit,' he said.

Edutech Nepal CEO Ashok Dalli noted that over 200,000 students and teachers from more than 300 community schools with computer labs provided by Edutech Nepal are already using the lessons.

Former principal of Khaireni Secondary School in Tanahun, Keshav Raj Ghimire, lauded the flipped classroom model for supporting learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, sharing that he has voluntarily trained hundreds of municipalities, principals, and teachers in its use.

The launch event was followed by a press conference where DLC officials including Nirmal Kumar Paudel, Principal of Dearwalk Dhading School; Yukta Verma, Flipped Class Recording Coordinator; and Asara Shrestha, DLC Content Architect responded to the queries regarding the app.

The Deerwalk Learning Center, which operates three schools, one college, and a training center, has been offering free educational videos for over a decade.

The new app is expected to make access to quality education more systematic, convenient, and widespread, the release noted.
