Heavy rain likely in hilly regions as monsoon persists

Kathmandu Valley forecasts 60% chance of rain

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 27

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy conditions across Nepal today, with moderate rainfall expected in several provinces.

According to the DHM, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces along with hilly regions of the country are likely to witness moderate rain, while other areas may see scattered showers. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

Tonight, Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces along with the hilly regions will remain generally cloudy, while other parts of the country will be partly cloudy. Moderate rain is likely in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, with a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

The monsoon trough is presently positioned near its average location, sustaining the wet weather pattern.

For Kathmandu Valley, the forecast indicates generally cloudy skies with rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 27–29°C, with a 60% chance of rain this afternoon. Tonight, the valley will see similar conditions, with minimum temperatures between 19–21°C and a 60% likelihood of rain.
