KATHMANDU, AUGUST 7
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast generally cloudy conditions across Koshi and Lumbini Provinces, as well as in the hilly regions of the country today. The rest of the country is expected to remain partly cloudy to mainly fair.
Moderate rainfall is likely in some places of Koshi and Lumbini Provinces, with scattered showers expected in parts of the hilly and Terai regions of the remaining provinces. There is also a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, the DHM stated.
Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the country. Moderate rain is likely in some areas of Madhesh, Koshi, and Lumbini Provinces, as well as at a few places in the hilly and Terai belts elsewhere. One or two places in the hilly region of Koshi Province may also experience heavy downpour.
According to the DHM, the monsoon trough currently lies north of its average position and is located over the Terai region of Nepal. While monsoon conditions are present across the country, the influence of moisture-laden winds has somewhat weakened.
For Kathmandu Valley, today's forecast predicts generally cloudy skies with rain. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 27°C and 29°C, with a 40% chance of rainfall. Tonight, similar conditions are expected, with temperatures dipping to 19°C–21°C, and the same 40% likelihood of rain.
