Curfew, prohibitory orders extended but partially eased in Kathmandu Valley

Authorities announce limited movement hours; essential services and flights allowed

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 10

The Nepali Army has issued an update on the prohibitory orders and curfew in the Kathmandu Valley, extending restrictions while allowing limited relaxation for public movement.

According to the official notice, prohibitory orders will remain in effect on Thursday, September 11 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, followed by a night curfew from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM on Friday.

Movement will be allowed during specific windows:

6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and

5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on September 11.

Essential services including ambulances, fire trucks, vehicles for health workers, security personnel, media, and the transport of food, fuel, vegetables, milk, water, and medicines will be permitted during the restrictions.

Employees of government offices, banks, and public institutions will be allowed to commute upon showing identification, while domestic and international airline passengers may travel by presenting their flight tickets.

The Army further clarified that restrictions outside the Valley will be determined by local security committees based on the situation in each district.

It urged citizens to cooperate with security personnel, emphasizing that maintaining public safety and humanitarian assistance remains the top priority.
