Kathmandu, SEPTEMBER 11
A man reported missing since Tuesday evening was found dead inside the Bishal Group business complex in Thankot on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Mahendra Nepali of Aakash Tole, Chandragiri Municipality–5. According to reports, he had entered the building on Tuesday evening to collect belongings following the arson attack carried out by Gen Z protesters.
Police, in coordination with local representatives, recovered Nepali's charred body from second floor of the eight-story building and sent it to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Maharajgunj, for post-mortem examination.
Ganesh Nepali, a relative of the deceased, said the hospital staff informed them that the autopsy would only be conducted after the government decides on matters related to those who died during the nationwide Gen Z protests.
He added that the body has been kept in the hospital mortuary until the government makes a decision before it is handed over to the family for final rites.
Meanwhile, the fire that engulfed the complex since Tuesday remains uncontrolled. As of Thursday evening, firefighters were still attempting to douse the flames using high skyladders, but without success.
The business complex, which housed various goods, has suffered damages worth millions of rupees following the arson attack.
