KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 10

Despite repeated attempts, the fire at Bishal Group's business complex in Deuradepko, Thankot-sparked by an arson attack carried out by Gen Z protesters yesterday-has yet to be brought under control.

The eight-story building, which has not yet come into full operation and was being used to store various products, was torched by around 30 protesters following nationwide demonstrations against corruption and the social media ban.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a staff member of the complex said that around 30 individuals on motorcycles overpowered them and set the building ablaze before looting valuables stored inside. Minors and other locals were also seen carrying away goods from the backdoor, where vehicles had also been set on fire.

Meanwhile, firefighters from Chandragiri Municipality, who have been attempting to contain the blaze since morning, were unsuccessful. Even by evening, thick smoke was still seen billowing from the seventh floor.

Property worth millions of rupees has reportedly been destroyed following the arson attack on Tuesday.
