KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 12

Daily life in Pokhara is gradually returning to normal as the Gen Z protests subside. Vehicular traffic has increased since this morning, and markets are witnessing a steady rise in shoppers.

Chief District Officer of Kaski, Rudradevi Sharma, said that travel restrictions have been relaxed during morning hours. 'A decision will be made by noon on whether to impose stricter measures or further ease restrictions, depending on the situation,' she noted.

Sharma added that while security arrangements across the district have been tightened, limited travel is permitted in the morning and evening for essential activities. However, a nighttime curfew remains in force within Pokhara Metropolitan City.

The protests on September 8 and 9 saw widespread arson and vandalism targeting government buildings in Pokhara.

Heavy damage was inflicted on dozens of public and private structures, including the Gandaki Provincial Assembly building, provincial ministries, district courts, district administration offices, Pokhara Metropolitan City, and several ward offices.
