KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 15

Newly appointed Minister of Home Affairs, Om Prakash Aryal assumed office on Monday. Shortly after taking the post, Home Minister Aryal announced a national day of mourning to honor those who died during the Generation Z movement.

Minister Aryal ordered that the national flag be flown at half-mast and that each bereaved family receive Rs 100,000 for funeral expenses. He also confirmed that the government will ensure the safe return of the deceased to their homes.

Aryal was welcomed at the Home Ministry by Home Secretary Gokarn Mani Duwaadi, Nepal Police Inspector General Chandra Kuber Khapung, Armed Police Force Inspector General Raju Aryal, and acting Director General of the National Investigation Department, among others.
