Govt Announces Public Holiday to Honour Gen-Z Protest Victims

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 16

The Home Ministry has declared a public holiday as a day of national mourning in honour of those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z protests.

Ministry spokesperson Anand Kafle issued a press statement on Tuesday, announcing that tomorrow would be observed as a public holiday in line with the Cabinet's decision on September 15.

'In memory of those who lost their lives in the demonstrations organized by the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9, the government has decided to lower the national flag to half-mast at all government offices, as well as at Nepali embassies and missions abroad, in addition to declaring a public holiday,' Kafle stated in the press note.
