U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has extended congratulations to the people of Nepal on the occasion of Constitution Day, underscoring Washington's continued support for Nepal's democratic aspirations and upcoming elections.

In a statement released by the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu, Rubio said, 'On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Nepal on September 19 as you celebrate Nepal's Constitution Day.'

He also praised the Nepali people's aspirations for a transparent government that upholds the Constitution, calling it 'essential for achieving a democratic solution as you prepare for elections in the coming months.'

The Secretary of State also conveyed condolences to the families of those killed and injured during the recent nationwide protests. 'The people of Nepal deserve a hopeful future focused on advancing economic growth, strengthening regional security, and promoting prosperity for all,' Rubio said.

Highlighting economic cooperation, he noted that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact will help expand Nepal's transportation and energy infrastructure, create jobs, and drive long-term economic growth, while strengthening the U.S.–Nepal partnership and creating opportunities for American companies.

Rubio added that the United States looks forward to 'continuing close cooperation with Nepal in promoting stability in South Asia and contributing to a safer and more secure world.'
