NEPSE to calculate indices using last transaction price

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 21
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has announced a change in how it will calculate market indices, shifting to the final transaction price as the basis for index computation.
According to a notice issued Sunday, the move follows a directive from the Securities Board of Nepal under the Securities Act 2063. The new method suspends the earlier rule that used the weighted average price between 2:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. as the day's closing price.
If no trade occurs during the final session, the most recent trade price will be used. After a technical test on Sunday, NEPSE said the system will take effect from the next trading day following the public holiday on Sept 22.
