KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 21

The government has transferred Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya and appointed engineer Manoj Silwal as his successor.

The Cabinet meeting held today decided to move Shakya to the Water and Energy Commission. Silwal, a former deputy executive director of the NEA, will serve a four-year term, equal to Shakya's original tenure.

Shakya had been appointed in March 2025 after the then Cabinet removed long-time chief Kulman Ghising. Five months later, Energy Minister Ghising-who returned to government after the recent political changes-oversaw the decision to replace Shakya with Silwal.
