NEPSE slides 27 points, turnover drops to Rs 4.12bln

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 24

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) slipped 27.89 points, or 1.03%, to close at 2,654.35 on Wednesday.

The Sensitive Index, which tracks class 'A' shares, fell 1.07%, while the Float Index, reflecting actively traded stocks, declined 1.06%.

Sectoral highlights

Gainers: Only the Hotels & Tourism sector rose, up 0.85%, and the Mutual Fund sector edged up 0.04%.

Losers: The steepest drop came in the Others sector (–2.16%), followed by Investment (–1.90%), Trading (–1.65%), and Non-Life Insurance (–1.44%). All remaining sectors ended in negative territory.

Market activity

Daily turnover fell to Rs 4.124 billion, with 9,408,663 shares of 317 companies changing hands through 47,852 transactions.

Total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.437 trillion.

By the session's close, 53 scrips gained, 193 declined, and five remained unchanged. Among them Mathillo Mailun Khola Jalvidhyut Limited (MMKJL) and City Hotel Limited (CITY) hit the upper circuit break.
