Traffic halted on six roads across country due to continuous rain

Vehicular movement has been halted on roads in six locations across the country due landslides triggered by continuous rain since Friday night.

Due to the landslide, traffic on the main highway has come to a halt, and in some places, vehicles are being allowed to pass in one direction only.

Due to continuous rainfall, the routes going in and out of the Kathmandu Valley have also been affected.

According to Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi, spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, traffic has been affected due to a landslide near the suspension bridge in Sanga, Bhaktapur, while a landslide on Kanti Highway at Takuche, Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, Lalitpur, has blocked the road.

Similarly, vehicular movement has been suspended as a landslide has occurred at Mahalaxmi Khola in Indrasarovar Rural Municipality-4, Makawanpur, under the Pharping–Sasneri section of the highway.

Traffic has been halted on the BP Highway in Kavrepalanchok's Roshi Rural Municipality-11 Mamtikhola and Buldhunga due to landslides.

Similarly, traffic police have reported that the road in Bhote Koshi Rural Municipality-4, Sindhupalchok at Charkilo has collapsed and traffic has been completely halted due to landslides at Dhulikhel Khawa and at Chawannakilo under the Araniko Highway.

According to spokesperson Subedi, traffic was halted when a landslide occurred at Tuin Khola Bridge in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5, Chitwan, along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section.

The police administration has urged citizens not to travel to areas prone to landslides unless necessary, to use safe and alternative routes, and to follow the instructions of the local administration.
