Ilam declared disaster crisis zone

The government has declared Ilam district, severely affected by recent landslides and floods, as a disaster crisis zone.
According to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel, the decision was made at a cabinet meeting held Thursday at Singha Durbar.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reported that 39 people lost their lives, one went missing, and 26 were injured in Ilam due to landslides and floods that also damaged major road networks.
The cabinet also authorized the Nepal Electricity Authority to issue an energy bond worth Rs 20 billion in phases for hydropower development.
Additionally, four Deputy Inspector Generals-Sushil Singh Rathore, Uma Prasad Chaturbedi, Himalaya Kumar Shrestha, and Dambar Bahadur Bishwokarma-were promoted to Additional Inspector General. The government also decided to dissolve the Land Issue Resolving Commission and its district committees formed under the 2081 formation order.
