Department urges preparedness as monsoon pattern lingers

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 23

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has predicted of continued unsettled weather across the country, forecasting generally cloudy skies today in Koshi Province and most hilly regions, with partial cloud cover in the remaining provinces.

According to the DHM, moderate rain is likely in Koshi, Madhesh, and the hilly belts of Bagmati and Gandaki, while isolated showers could occur in other hilly and Tarai districts. One or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati may even experience heavy rainfall.

Tonight, the hilly belt will remain mostly cloudy and the Tarai partly cloudy, with scattered moderate rain in several locations.

For Kathmandu Valley, skies will stay mostly cloudy with about a 40 percent chance of showers. The DHM projects daytime temperatures of 28–30 °C and nighttime lows of 19–21 °C.
