KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 3
Prime Minister Sushila Karki has instructed all government agencies to adopt austerity measures and ensure the productive and transparent use of public funds.
During a review meeting with ministers and secretaries on Sunday, Prime Minister Karki emphasized the need to fulfill the people's mandate for prosperity, development, good governance, equality, and corruption control. She urged ministries to prepare and implement a clear 'blueprint' that enables citizens to tangibly experience better service delivery and accountability.
Issuing a 14-point directive, the Prime Minister called for stronger cooperation with the private sector to improve the investment climate and public confidence in government institutions. She also directed that employee transfers and promotions be carried out transparently and on merit.
PM Karki instructed authorities to assess damages caused during the Gen Z protests and prepare a reconstruction plan. She also urged uninterrupted delivery of public services through immediate procurement or alternative arrangements.
Highlighting preparations for the upcoming elections, the Prime Minister said she has been holding regular discussions with the Election Commission, political parties, and security agencies to ensure a conducive election environment.
She further directed ministries to review their annual action plans, convene meetings of all councils under their leadership, and hold diplomatic consultations with new ministers and chief ministers.
'All criminal activities must be firmly controlled to uphold the rule of law-there can be no compromise on that,' she said, adding that unnecessary administrative structures should be scrapped or merged to enhance efficiency.
'You are the permanent government,' she told civil servants. 'Fulfill your responsibilities with integrity, knowledge, and dedication.'
