KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 23

Police have arrested two individuals in possession of more than a thousand kilograms of illegal marijuana during a late-night operation in Lahan Municipality-1, in Siraha on Saturday.

The arrested have been identified as Tanka Bishwakarma, 24, of Chhipidhara Tole in Dharmadevi Municipality-9, Sankhuwasabha, and Khem Rana Magar, 22, of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality-2, Dhankuta.

A team from the Area Police Office, Lahan intercepted a truck (Na 5 Kha 3209) traveling from Mirchaiya toward Rupani. During inspection, police discovered 31 sacks of marijuana concealed in a false compartment behind the driver's cabin.

Both the driver, Bishwakarma, and his assistant, Magar, were arrested at the scene.

Police said investigation into the case is ongoing.
