KATHMANDU, JANUARY 20 U.S. Embassy Nepal, in partnership with Aadyanta Advisory, AmCham Nepal, and Aadhyanta Fund Management, today announced the launch of 'Code for Impact: U.S.–Nepal Tech Innovation Hackathon.' This nationwide initiative will engage over 175 young innovators across all seven provinces to develop technology-driven solutions for local challenges. The six-month program provides students, early-career professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs with a comprehensive pipeline for success, including intensive provincial hackathons, hands-on mentorship, seed funding, and pathways to further incubation and investment. 'Nepal's next generation of innovators is exceptionally creative and capable,' said Mike Harker, Public Affairs Chief at U.S. Embassy Nepal. 'Through Code for Impact, the United States is proud to support a platform that brings advanced technology tools, mentorship, and opportunity directly to youth across the country, well beyond Kathmandu. This initiative reflects the strength of the U.S.–Nepal partnership and our shared commitment to accelerating innovation, skills development, and economic growth that deepens commercial ties between our two countries.' According to the US Embassy, the hackathon series launched in Butwal on January 18–19 and will continue in Pokhara on January 22–23, followed by simultaneous events in Dhangadi and Biratnagar on January 26–27. The tour proceeds to Janakpur on January 30–31, Surkhet on January 31–February 1 and concludes in Kathmandu on February 5–6. Competitors will utilize ethical AI, human-centered design, and global tech platforms to address challenges in education, health, agriculture, tourism, and digital commerce. They will be supported by a network of experienced founders, technologists, and ecosystem leaders. 'Strong tech ecosystems, Silicon Valley included, are built on shared knowledge, constant experimentation, and a willingness to trust bold, hardworking talent with the resources to succeed,' said Pukar Hamal, Founder of SecurityPal and a mentor and partner for the initiative. 'Creating those conditions in Nepal while also elevating visibility for our tech capabilities through efforts like Nepal's 'Silicon Peaks' branding is how we turn ideas into globally competitive companies.' As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary of independence, Code for Impact highlights a shared commitment to practical problem-solving and economic opportunity. By bridging the gap between local talent and global resources, the program helps scale provincial solutions into viable ventures while deepening the innovation ties between the United States and Nepal, the embassy further said.
