KATHMANDU, JANUARY 21 A total of 3,486 candidates have filed their nominations in 165 constituencies across the country for the March 5 election to the House of Representatives (HoR), according to the Election Commission. All candidates are contesting under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system. Nomination registration was held simultaneously nationwide on January 20, with the deadline concluding on Tuesday. The Commission said minor changes were made to the preliminary list after verification revealed that some parties had fielded two candidates in the same constituency. Of the total candidates, 3,089 are men, 396 are women and one candidate is from the third gender. As per the election schedule, complaints may be filed today against candidates who do not meet the required qualifications.
