By THT Online

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 8 More than 1,500 election-related publicity materials displayed in violation of the election code of conduct have been removed from public places in Janakpurdham. According to the District Police Office, posters, banners, stickers and flags placed on electric poles, walls and government structures were taken down during a monitoring operation conducted within Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City on Saturday. The removal was carried out after political parties and candidates failed to comply with repeated instructions from the District Election Office to remove the materials themselves. District Police Office spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bahadur Bam said monitoring found the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) to be the biggest violator of the code of conduct. Police said regular monitoring is ongoing, warning that legal action may be taken against parties and candidates who continue to defy the election code of conduct. The local administration, police and concerned agencies have urged all political parties to act responsibly to ensure free, fair and credible elections, adding that strict action will be taken if violations are repeated.
