BAJURA, FEBRUARY 24 Construction work on a Bailey bridge over the Dansagu Khola in Budhinanda Municipality is progressing rapidly, local authorities said. The bridge, which had been lying idle for several years over the Budhiganga River at Jadanga along the Sanfe–Martadi road section, is now being relocated and installed over Dansagu Khola, Mayor Janak Kumar Bohara confirmed. The Road Division Office in Sanfebagar issued a tender for the installation, and work has begun with the aim of completing it within the current fiscal year. Foundations for both ends of the bridge are already under construction, according to local resident Pradeepraj Joshi. The construction contract was awarded to 'D S Jankalyan JV' from Kavre, with a total agreement of Rs 21,110,814 excluding VAT. Work is expected to be completed by mid-June to allow traffic movement. Mayor Bohara explained that the Bailey bridge had remained unused at Jadanga for three years even after the permanent bridge over Budhiganga River was completed. Following sustained efforts involving municipal, district, and ministerial authorities, the bridge was successfully relocated to Dansagu Khola, Bohara added. Local residents had long demanded a safe passage over Dansagu Khola, and officials expect that the bridge will ease transportation and boost economic and social activities in the area. The Road Division Office confirmed that all procedures are being completed on schedule to ensure the bridge is operational within this fiscal year. The bridge lies along the main Martadi–Kolti road, which connects four municipalities in Bajura as well as the districts of Humla and Mugu. The original Bailey bridge at Budhiganga had been swept away by floods on August 9, 2020. A temporary Bailey bridge was installed in January the following year, and a permanent bridge was completed one year later. However, the Bailey bridge remained idle at the river for three years until its relocation to Dansagu Khola.
