KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 25 A photography exhibition titled 'Nepal: The Seen and The Unseen' was inaugurated at the prestigious Cairo Opera House on Saturday. Organised by the Embassy of Nepal, Cairo in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and the Cairo Opera House, the exhibition was jointly opened by Nepal's Ambassador to Egypt Sushil K. Lamsal, Egyptian photojournalist Ashraf Talaat, Chairman of the Cairo Opera House Prof Dr Alaa Abdel Salam, and other distinguished guests. Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Lamsal underscored the role of art and culture in strengthening Nepal–Egypt bilateral ties. He expressed appreciation to the Government of Egypt for supporting cultural exchanges and recalled the earlier exhibition 'Faces of Nepal' hosted at the Salah Taher Gallery in July last year. He said such initiatives help Egyptian audiences gain a deeper understanding of Nepal's natural beauty, cultural heritage and social life. Photographer Ashraf Talaat reflected on his experience documenting Nepal's culture and everyday life, stating that his work aims to capture both visible landscapes and subtle narratives that define Nepal's identity. He thanked the Embassy for facilitating his visit to Nepal in January–February 2026, during which the 42 photographs on display were taken, primarily in the Kathmandu Valley. More than 100 guests, including ambassadors, diplomats, artists, media representatives and members of the Nepali community in Egypt, attended the inauguration. The exhibition will remain open to the public at the Salah Taher Gallery until February 26.
