KATHMANDU, MARCH 30 Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has pledged to eliminate administrative and legal barriers and curb corruption to support private sector growth. Speaking at a meeting with representatives of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Monday, the minister said the government has adopted a policy to treat the private sector as a development partner. 'The sufferings of the private sector will end. We are your partner,' he said, emphasising the sector's key role in expanding investment and generating employment. Minister Wagle also committed to revitalising the economy and tackling corruption, adding that reforms in financial crime laws are being considered. He said the government plans to prioritise monetary penalties over imprisonment in cases of general financial irregularities. He, however, stressed that the private sector must uphold transparency and integrity, noting that the state expects honesty from businesses and entrepreneurs.
