District authorities have introduced one-way routes for vehicles travelling between Hetauda and Kathmandu to ease traffic congestion following the disruption of the Prithvi Highway.
Under the new arrangement, light vehicles carrying fewer than 14 passengers travelling from Hetauda to Kathmandu will use the Bhimphedi–Dakshinkali route via Kulekhani. Vehicles travelling from Kathmandu to Hetauda will use the Pharping–Bhimphedi route via Phakhel and Kulekhani.
According to Santosh Subedi of the District Administration Office in Hetauda, buses and heavy vehicles heading to Kathmandu will use the Tribhuvan Highway, while those travelling to Hetauda from Kathmandu will use the Kanti Highway.
Traffic along the Hetauda–Kathmandu routes has increased significantly after the Prithvi Highway was blocked at Krishnabhir, and authorities expect the new arrangement to help reduce congestion.
