KATHMANDU, APRIL 16 Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has raised the retail price of diesel and kerosene by Rs 30 per litre and domestic aviation fuel by Rs 5 per litre, effective from midnight of April 16. Petrol prices have been left unchanged. The state-owned corporation attributed the revision to sustained international price increases driven by the ongoing Middle East conflict, which has made automatic price adjustments based on Indian Oil Corporation supply rates unviable. Under the new rates, diesel and kerosene will retail at Rs 238.25, Rs 236.00, and Rs 236.00 per litre across the three regional pricing categories respectively, while domestic aviation fuel will be priced at Rs 262.00 per litre. Despite the increase, NOC said it would still lose Rs 99.16 per litre on diesel sales alone after the revision takes effect. The corporation disclosed that, prior to the adjustment, it had been absorbing fortnightly losses of approximately Rs 7.89 billion, with per-litre losses of Rs 2.32 on petrol, Rs 87.99 on diesel, Rs 36.70 on kerosene, and Rs 331.25 per cylinder on LPG. Even after the price hike, total fortnightly losses are projected at Rs 5.75 billion. NOC appealed to consumers and stakeholders for cooperation, urging the public to exercise restraint in petroleum use given the difficult conditions arising from volatile global markets.
