Nepal fall to Oman by 102 runs via DLS in League-2 clash

KATHMANDU, APRIL 29 Nepal suffered a 102-run defeat to Oman under the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method in their ICC World Cup Cricket League-2 encounter held at the Tribhuvan University Ground in Kirtipur today. Chasing a formidable target of 306 runs, Nepal were 155 for seven in 36.5 overs when rain interrupted play, forcing the match to be decided via the DLS method. Dipendra Singh Airee top-scored for Nepal with a composed 60 off 62 balls. Bhim Sarki contributed 28 runs, while Asif Sheikh added 19. For Oman, Nadeem Khan led the bowling attack with three wickets, while Shakeel Ahmed claimed two. Earlier, opting to bat first after winning the toss, Oman posted an imposing total of 305 for eight in their allotted 50 overs. Jatinder Singh starred with a composed 130 off 96 deliveries, while Jiten Ramanandi made 43 and Aryan Bista added 35 runs. In response, Nepal's bowling effort was led by Sompal Kami, who picked up four wickets for 59 runs in nine overs. Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee bagged two wickets each. This was Nepal's second match of the ongoing tri-series involving Nepal, the UAE and Oman. Nepal had registered a victory over the UAE in their earlier fixture. Nepal will take on the UAE at the same venue on Friday, May 1.
