KATHMANDU, JULY 2 Nepal's tourism sector continued its strong recovery in June, with the country recording 91,363 international visitor arrivals (IVAs), marking a 19.5 percent increase compared to 76,425 arrivals during the same month last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The latest figures also surpassed pre-pandemic levels, with June arrivals standing 22 percent higher than the 74,883 international visitors recorded in June 2019, reflecting sustained growth in inbound tourism. India remained Nepal's largest source market, accounting for 41,809 visitors or 45.76 percent of total arrivals. The United States ranked second with 11,836 visitors (12.95 percent), followed by China with 9,995 (10.94 percent), Bangladesh with 4,322 (4.73 percent), and Australia with 2,896 (3.17 percent). Region-wise, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries contributed the largest share of visitors at 52.82 percent. Other Asian countries accounted for 17.68 percent, followed by the Americas (14.36 percent), Europe (7.61 percent), Oceania (3.38 percent), other regions (3.10 percent), the Middle East (0.74 percent), and Africa (0.32 percent). The NTB said the encouraging figures demonstrate growing international confidence in Nepal as a travel destination and underscore the country's continued momentum in positioning itself as a 'Lifetime Experience Destination.' The steady rise in visitor arrivals comes as Nepal intensifies efforts to diversify its tourism products, improve connectivity, and attract high-value international travellers.
