KATHMANDU, JULY 11

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in six provinces on Friday as active monsoon conditions continue across Nepal.

According to the department, heavy rain is likely at one or two places in the hilly districts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces, as well as the hilly and Tarai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces. The country remains under the influence of monsoon winds, with the monsoon trough positioned slightly north of its average location.

The department said light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at many places in the hilly region and at a few places elsewhere across the country. Light to moderate snowfall is also likely in some high Himalayan areas.

At present, light to moderate rainfall is occurring at a few locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, while isolated showers have been reported in Madhesh Province.

Similar weather conditions are expected to persist tonight, with generally cloudy skies nationwide and light to moderate rain, thunderstorms and snowfall forecast for parts of the Himalayan and hilly regions.
