SARLAHI, SEPTEMBER 7 Four people who were allegedly duped of Rs 1.2 million on the promise of being sent to Mauritius for foreign employment have recovered their money following an initiative by the District Administration Office, Sarlahi. The victims, Raj Kumar Rauniyar and Ajay Thakur of Malangwa-10, Pahalad Sahani of Ishwarpur-6 and Sandeep Yadav of Brahmapuri-6, had paid money at different times to Nathuni Mahato of Ishwarpur-1. Mahato had allegedly promised to arrange jobs in Mauritius but failed to send them abroad and did not return the money. The victims filed a complaint at the District Administration Office, which initiated recovery and coordinated with the parties concerned. As part of the process, Rajendra Mahato, father of the accused, returned Rs 1.2 million to the victims. They said the recovery provided relief after waiting for overseas employment for a long time. Chief District Officer Bijay Raj Subedi urged people to remain vigilant against individuals and groups luring jobseekers with promises of attractive salaries abroad. He advised those seeking foreign employment to travel only through officially authorised channels recognised by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security. The handover was attended by Sarlahi Police Chief SP Rabindranath Paudel, Armed Police Force SP Amar Bahadur Khatri and other officials.
