BARA, SEPTEMBER 19 Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy and a 75-year-old man in connection with separate alleged rape cases involving two five-year-old girls in Jitpur-Simara Sub-Metropolitan City within a 24-hour period. In the latest case, police arrested the 14-year-old from his home in Pathlaiya on Friday morning after the girl's family informed authorities that he had allegedly raped the child. The boy has been kept in custody at the Area Police Office, Simara, for investigation. According to Bara Superintendent of Police Narendra Kunwar, the accused allegedly admitted involvement during preliminary questioning. Police said both the girl and the accused were sent to Provincial Hospital, Kalaiya, for medical examinations and services through the One-Stop Crisis Management Centre (OCMC). In the other case, police arrested 75-year-old Hasan Jan Mian on Thursday night following allegations that he raped another five-year-old girl in Inarwasira. According to the girl's family and local residents, Mian, who sold palm fruit in the village, allegedly took the child inside his house after she went there to buy fruit. The arrest triggered tension in the area, with local residents surrounding the temporary police post and demanding that the accused be handed over to them. Police said some protesters hurled stones, injuring Senior Sub-Inspector Binod Rana Magar and damaging a police vehicle. Additional police teams were deployed from Simara, Jeetpur, Prasuni and Kalaiya to bring the situation under control before Mian was transferred to the Area Police Office, Simara. Police said both the girl and the accused underwent medical examinations and OCMC assessment on Thursday night. The girl's parents later filed a formal complaint based on her statement.
