RAUTAHAT, OCTOBER 2 Police have registered a case against a school bus assistant accused of attempting to rape a five-year-old girl at a school in Rautahat district. The 22-year-old suspect was arrested after a complaint was filed at the Area Police Office, Garuda, on Thursday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shankar Prasad Acharya said the Rautahat District Court has remanded him in custody for five days for investigation. According to police, the incident took place on Wednesday morning. Preliminary investigation indicates that an attempt was made to sexually assault the child. The family informed the school administration, and police were then notified. A police team from the Area Police Office, Katahariya, inspected the school premises and examined CCTV footage, which police say supports the complaint. The suspect was taken into custody the same day and handed over to the Area Police Office, Garuda, that evening. Police said they are also investigating an allegation that attempts were made to prevent the incident from becoming public. The investigation is continuing. The suspect has not been convicted, and the charges remain allegations until decided by a court.
