BIRATNAGAR: People residing in the Nepal-India border region of eastern Tarai today organised a rally in a show of harmony in the no man’s land. The participants of the rally exchanged flowers saying that none could break the age-old people-level relationship between the two countries. Hundreds of locals from Biratnagar in Nepal and Jogbani of India, who participated in the rally, sang national anthems of both the countries. The rally was led by Varun Mishra from the Indian side while Pitambar Dahal led that for Nepal. People from both sides of the border also hugged each other. Addressing the programme, CA member Moti Dugar said no force could break the relation between Nepal and India as people of the two countries had relation of blood. Former member of Lok Shava of India Sukdev Shah said, ‘’The relation between the two countries is harmonious so no force can jeopardise it.’’ Civil society activist Pitambar Dahal opined that one neighbour could not strengthen its nationalism by insulting the other. “Political parties cannot disturb the harmony existing between the two peoples,” he said.
