KATHMANDU: Gham Power Nepal Pvt Ltd has brought Photo Voltaic (PV) technology from Solar Power Inc (SPI), USA, to ease load shedding in Nepal. The company will work in urban areas to provide reliable electricity from solar energy at an affordable price. Nepal is experiencing a severe energy crisis since November 2008. The daily up to 16 hours’ load-shedding has brought chaos to daily life. To address the market need of clean and affordable energy, Gham Power has brought the PV system to fulfill the needs of urban houses and commercial complexes. The company has a three-phase plan to expedite PV service in urban areas. Under the plan, a 20 kilowatt plan will be established in Kathmandu in 2009. Later, in 2010 the company will go for aggressive marketing targeting urabn houses and commercial complexes. The year 2012-13 will be observed as a partnership year and a number of PV systems will be installed in urban areas. As the exclusive representative of SPI, Gham Power will research, design and develop PV system based on market needs.
