TOPICS: Commitment for success

Commitment is one of the inevitable ingredients in accomplishing our goals. It’s not unusual for people to get stuck in an endless loop of getting excited, setting goals and then quitting them shortly afterward. In the end, they confine themselves in one corner for not accomplishing anything at all. This is due to the absence of commitment. There is no success without commitment. If you look at successful people in any field, you will find they aren’t necessarily the best and brightest, the fastest and the strongest. What they have in common is that they are the ones with most commitment. Anything we do, either small or big, becomes perfect and beautiful when we perform with the commitment. When we are committed to something, we accept no excuses, but only results. If you aspire to be the best you can be. Start by making it a priority to reach your goals. Sometimes, commitment becomes the core factor for success. Commitment overshadows all other weakness. What makes Larry Bird one of the best players in basketball? Many people are still wondering on this. In a world of graceful gazelles, he is like he is playing in slow motion. He can’t jump. He succeeds simply because he has a massive commitment to succeed. He gets more out of his skills than anyone else. It’s the quality of commitment that separates the good from great. Commitment fosters excellence. Before he hit the big game, Dan Rather was a legend as the hardest working newsman in Houston. They still talk about the time he did a spot hanging on to a tree as a hurricane roared towards the Texas coast. Once I heard some people talking about Michael Jackson as he was an overnight wonder. Overnight wonder! I thought for a while. Does he have a great talent or god- gift? Sure, he has talent. He had been working on it since he was five years old. He was brought up in the environment that supported; he developed commitment to his interest that nurtured him the most. Successful people are willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. We often pick up an aim to be something famous and successful. We become excited for someday and after that we leave our goal convincing ourselves it doesn’t fit our zone. Once you think you are right just go for it, no matter where majorities are. Ultimately, you will be where you want to be.
