KATHMANDU: Nepal were drawn in Group A against the defending champions Hong Kong in the eighth ACC Trophy Elite 2010 scheduled for March 31 to April 9 in Kuwait. Singapore, Kuwait and Oman complete the Group A while Group B comprises of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Afghanistan, Malaysia, Bahrain and Bhutan. Nepal finished fourth in 2008 after losing against the eventual finalist the UAE in semi-finals. Nepal’s best showing in the tournament was in 2002 when they reached the final.
Curator padlocks TU Stadium
KATHMANDU: The Nepali U-16 team was left stranded outside the TU Stadium for about an hour after the curator Komal Pandey padlocked the gates on Saturday. Pandey ordered the ground staffs to lock the doors and go for strike. According to one of the staffs, Pandey threatened the staffs of severe consequences if they resumed work. The team was scheduled to have a practice session from 10-12 in the morning. The training got underway after the ground staffs returned to work following a call from CAN official.
