Kathmandu, May 21:

Nightingale International School won two golds, as many silvers and three bronze medals to clinch the first Inter-School (Primary-level) Athletics Championship organised by Nepal Amateur Veterans Athlete Committee here at Dasharath Stadium today. Mangal Higher Secondary School won a gold, a silver and a bronze to come second, while St Xavier’s School and Bhaktapur English School finished joint third with a gold and a silver each. Canvas Boarding School, Ganesh Boarding School and Green Village Secondary School won a gold each. In all, 223 athletes from 11 school competed for a total of 24 medals. Former athletes Amritman Shrestha, Gajaraj Joshi, Krishna Bahadur Manandhar, Bhupendra Bahadur Silwal, G Shah, Jeet Bahadur KC, Navaraj Ghimire, and Kathmandu PABSON secretary Gopal Acharya gave away prizes to the winners of the two-day event.

School winners: boys’ 50m Subhash Basnet of Green Village School ; girls’ 50m Aditi Jha, Nightingale School; Boys’ softball throw Krishna Tamang, Mangal School; girls’ softball throw Kiran Sunuwar Ganesh School; girls’ standing broad jump Hira Acharya Bhaktapur School; boys’ standing broad jump Pawan Thapa, Ganesh School; boys’ 100m Rishav Pokherel, St Xavier’s School; girls’ 100m Gayatri Yadav, Nightingale School.
