Intel’s products
KATHMANDU: S B Distributors Pvt Ltd, an authorised distributor of Intel in Nepal, has started marketing Intel’s motherboard and CPU. Intel Channel Conference was also held during the launch of new Intel products in Kathmandu. Nikhil Kumar Tondon, channel manager made a presentation on Intel products and services. Intel holds 80 per cent market share of CPU and motherboard production globally. — HNS
Training concludes
BAGLUNG: A week-long training on the construction and use of improved oven concluded at Bhimpokhara VDC of Baglung district recently. The training was aimed at helping improve the health of rural people and save firewood. Dhaulagiri Community Resources Development
Centre, Baglung organised the training, where some 40 villagers participated and learned construction, maintenance and use of smokeless oven. — RSS
Myanmar’s trade up
YANGON: Myanmar’s foreign trade for the fiscal year 2004-2005 increased by nearly nine per cent but failed to meet the official target. The country’s total foreign trade in the last fiscal year was $4.9 billion compared to $4.5 billion in the previous year, an increase of 8.9 per cent. — AP
DC raises stake
MUMBAI: Deccan Chronicle (DC) Holdings Ltd, the publishers of Andhra Pradesh-based English newspaper Deccan Chronicle, said on Monday the company has increased its stake in the Asian Age to a majority 90 per cent. The BoD of Deccan Chronicle Holdings approved the acquisition of an addition 67 per cent stake in the Asian Age up from 23 per cent now. — HNS
India eyes price hike
New Delhi: The Indian government is still to firm up plans to hike domestic retail prices of petrol and diesel on par with global trends to help oil-marketing firms reduce under-recovery, which is threatening to impact on their profits. Even as the Left allies of the UPA continue to resist any move by the finance ministry to hike prices of auto fuels, petroleum secretary said the marginal reduction in international prices has somewhat eased the pressure on state-owned oil companies. — HNS
Indo-Pak trade talk
KARACHI: A 100-member Indian business delegation arrived in Pakistan on Monday to discuss trade opportunities after the recent thaw in relations between the two rivals. The delegation from the FICCI will spend two days in the southern city of Karachi before departing for Islamabad where they will meet prime minister Shaukat Aziz and president Gen Pervez Musharraf. — AP
