Human rights activists today stressed the need for imparting proper justice to ensure proper democratic system in the country because justice system is one of the rod to measure democracy. “Justice at any level should be maintained to ensure democracy,” said Pradip Po-khrel, president of the Amn-esty International, Nepal. “There is no such words as terrorism in the dictionary of Human Rights,” said Pokhrel during an interaction on ‘full democracy’ organised by the seven students’ unions. “One person cannot save the nation and nationality alone, only citizens can safeguard democracy and the country,” said Purusottam Dahal, president of Human Rights and Peace Society. “There is a need for internal struggle within the political parties to develop democratic cultures in them.”
Dahal said the government’s recent announcement of introducing ‘nationalist’ education in the country is not clear. The 14 years of democracy in Nepal has enlightened Nepalis with the experience one would gain in 160 years, Subodh Pyakurel, chairman at Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) said. Khimlal Bhattarai, president of All Nepal Free Students Union (ANNFSU) said the stir will materalise at the end and help restore democracy in the country.
Badri Pandey, acting-president of Nepal Students Union said the students would denounce the government’s imposition of nationalist education.
