CA members to donate one month salary worth Rs 25 million for relief

KATHMANDU, April 27 A meeting of parties representing the Constituent Assembly today decided to provide salary of one month of CA office bearers and all CA members to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for earthquake victims. The meeting called by Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang decided to provide a total of more than Rs 25 million, that includes one-month salary of CA Chairman, Vice-Chairperson, leader of main opposition party, chief whips, chairpersons of parliamentary committees and members of the CA, said Nembang’s Secretariat in a statement. The meeting held at Nembang’s office in Singha Durbar requested all people to maintain restraint during the crisis. It wished eternal peace to those who lost their lives due to the quake and speedy recovery to the injured. It appealed to all parties and their sister wings, government, neighbouring countries, national and international government and non-government organisations and people to come together and work for rescue and relief. During the meeting, CA Chairman Nembang urged the leaders to forge consensus on the disputed issues of the constitution to pay real tribute to those killed and treat the wounds of affected people. Ghale couple donates Rs 20m KATHMANDU: Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) President Shesh Ghale and his wife Jamuna Ghale have pledged relief fund of Rs 10 million each for earthquake victims. Relief distribution will start from the most affected districts, namely Gorkha, Dhading, Kavre and Sindhupalchowk, starting tomorrow. Ghale has also appealed to the NRN community to extend support for the relief fund that has been set up by NRNA. As per the NRNA Secretariat in Kathmandu, another Rs 10 million has been collected in a separate relief fund. The NRNA honcho has also asked regional coordinators of NRNA to collect funds. The fund will be mobilised to provide relief to the victims. Families in 29 districts have been affected due to the devastating earthquake of Saturday.
