Kathmandu, May 26:
The student wing of Nepali Congress (Democratic) today organised a pro-democracy protest rally from Maitidevi through Old Baneshwor and ended at New Baneshwor. The student bodies demanded immediate release of all the illegally detained political activists and sought termination of the ‘unconstitutional’ Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC).
Addressing protesters, Kalyan Kumar Gurung, joint general secretary of Nepal Students Union, said the King’s autocratic regime has now neared end and that the students’ regime has begun. Gurung said the students’ movement would continue until ‘full democracy’ is restored. Others addressing the mass were Saroj Thapa, chairman of Tri-Chandra College Free Students Union, Santosh Bhatta, FSU chairman of College of International Languages and student leader Keshab Rimal.
