KATHMANDU: Nepal’s FIDE Master Rupesh Jaiswal registered a win in the first round of the Asian Schools/ ASEAN+ Age Groups Chess Championships at the National Technology University in Singapore on Tuesday. Jaiswal defeated Chuc Dinh Tan of Vietnam in 33 moves capitalising on the mistake of Tan in the 13th move. In U-20 category, Nepal’s Bibek Thing lost to FM Liu Xiangyi of Singapore in 24 moves. — HNS PM Cup Cricket KATHMANDU: Nepal Cricket Association, under the auspices of Nepal government and National Sports Council, is organising the Prime Minister Cup Women's National Cricket Tournament in Pokhara and Chitwan from Wednesday. A total of 10 teams -- nine development regions and Nepal APF Club -- are participating in the Twenty20 format tournament. As per the schedule, Group A matches will be held in Pokhara, while Group B matches will be played in Chitwan. The semi-finals, third-place and final matches will be held in Pokhara. — HNS Burzaco surrenders ROME: Police in northern Italy say Argentine businessman Alejandro Burzaco, who was indicted by US authorities in connection to the FIFA corruption case, has turned himself in. Bolzano police official Giuseppe Tricarico told The Associated Press that Burzaco turned himself in Tuesday morning. He was with an Italian and Spanish-speaking lawyer. Tricarico said Burzaco is currently in a jail cell pending a hearing on whether to confirm the arrest, as is procedure in Italy. Tricarico said Burzaco was “searched for across the world” after being named, along with two other Argentines, in the US indictment. Burzaco is the president of sports marketing company Torneos y Competencias. — AP Commentator Bryant CLEVELAND: Kobe Bryant, who has won five NBA championships, will be part of Sina’s pre-game and post-game livestream of Game 3 of the NBA Finals in China. The Lakers superstar will provide analysis before and after Tuesday night’s game, joining host Huang Shuo remotely from Los Angeles. Bryant remains one of the most popular players in Asia and played for the US Olympic team in the Beijing Games in 2008. He first travelled to China for a clinic in 1998 and has returned nearly every year since. He has almost 3.5 million followers on Weibo, a social media site, and posted on Monday that he would be talking about the game and making an announcement about what’s coming this summer.
