KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist has denounced the fresh 16-point agreement reached among the major political forces regarding disputed constitutional issues. At a press meet in the Capital today, party Chairman Mohan Baidya argued that the agreement was against interests of the nation and the meanest example of deception to the people. The agreement came out when the country should have focused on post-disaster management in view of the damages caused by the earthquake, he added. This was an insult to people's sentiments and aspirations, the party said in a press note distributed at the programme organised to unveil decisions of the party standing committee meeting. Reiterating the party voice for drafting the constitution through an all-party conference, leader Baidya insisted on gearing up for a new people's revolution to protect what he called national sovereignty. The party has accused the UCPN-Maoist of deceiving people and demonstrating dual character by joining hands with the parliamentary parties. The Baidya-led party also ruled out possibility of unification with the UCPN-M at present situation.
