BAJURA: A public offence case was filed yesterday against Ganesh Bohora, a personal aide to CPN-UML lawmaker Pemba Gurung Bhote, on the charge of attacking an on-duty policeman under the influence of alcohol in Bajura on Saturday. According to Bajura Police Chief DSP Shyam Prasad Poudel, they are preparing to lodge the same case against Rajib Rokaya, CPN-UML aligned All Nepal National Free Student’s Union Bajura Secretary, on the charge of supporting Bohora in the attack. According to sources, Bohora and Rokaya clashed with another gang while they were under the influence of alcohol in Loktantrikchowk of Bajura on Saturday. Supporters of the former group had attacked the police team that reached to take control of the situation. Prem Pal, a police constable sustained critical injuries in the attack. The youths had attacked the police team by smashing alcohol bottles. Pal has got 12 stitches on his stomach whereas the uniforms of three other cops were torn by Rokaya’s gang. Constable Pal is undergoing treatment at District Hospital Bajura. Bohora was a national boxing player, who was appointed as personal aide by lawmaker Bhote, after he was picked as a lawmaker under the proportional representation quota from CPN-UML. Both the accused Bohora and Rokaya are in police detention and investigation is under way, said DSP Poudel. Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Dhan Prasad Sharma Poudel said that both the accused would be penalised if they are found guilty during the probe. ANNFSU Bajura District Chairman Jung BK, however, argued that police were hatching a conspiracy against Bohora and Rokaya. “There is no ground to detain the duo,” said BK.
