Irreverent Irish movie star Colin Farrell, one of Hollywood’s hottest properties, will do a turn as an awards presenter at next month’s Oscars ceremony organisers said.

Farrell, 27, will hand out one of the coveted golden statuettes when he makes his second Oscars appearance at Hollywood’s

Kodak Theatre on February 29, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The outspoken Dubliner has become one of Tinseltown’s most talked about players following his meteoric rise to stardom in such movies as 2001’s ‘Phone Booth’, and 2002’s

‘Minority Report’, ‘Daredevil’ and action flick ‘S.W.A.T’.

Farrell also appeared in last year’s ‘The Recruit’ with Al Pacino, in ‘Veronica Guerin’ with Cate Blanchett, and will soon be seen in two new pictures: ‘Intermission’ and ‘A Home at the End of the World’.

He is currently also making the big-budget spectacular ‘Alexander The Great’, directed by Oliver Stone, which is due for release later this year, in which he takes the title role.

Farrell is the second Oscars presenter to be announced for next month’s ceremony, and joins double Oscar-winner and Hollywood powerhouse Tom Hanks in this year’s line-up.

The 47-year-old Hanks will be making his 11th appearance as an Oscars presenter.
