RAUTAHAT, JANUARY 18
One person was killed and another critically injured after a motorcycle accident at Kachhuwa Bridge in Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality of Rautahat district on Saturday evening.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 5:30 pm when a motorcycle bearing Indian registration number BR 30 AE 5138 plunged off Kachhuwa Bridge, located between wards 3 and 5 along the Gaur–Gangapipra road section.
The deceased has been identified as Mintu Paswan of Mahanpur village under Pipradhi police station in Sheohar district of Bihar, India. Another rider, Rajesh Paswan of the same village, sustained serious injuries in the incident.
Police said preliminary investigations suggest the motorcycle went out of control due to excessive speed while the riders were under the influence of alcohol. An alcohol bottle was also recovered from a bag hanging on the motorcycle, police added.
The injured was initially taken to the Provincial Hospital in Gaur and later referred to Birgunj for further treatment. The motorcycle has been kept at the Area Police Office in Gangapipra, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
