KATHMANDU, JANUARY 18

The government has decided to accept a grant equivalent to 3.6 million US dollars for a project aimed at managing the human–tiger interface.

Government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, announced the decision while briefing the media on the Cabinet resolutions passed on January 16. The grant will be provided by the Global Environment Facility through the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

A negotiation team, led by a Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, will be formed to hold discussions on securing concessional loans and grants from the World Bank for a project related to clean air and economic prosperity.

The government has also approved the financial modality of the reservoir-based Budhigandaki Hydropower Project. Additionally, a commission has been constituted under the coordination of former High Court judge Binod Prasad Sharma to investigate issues facing cooperatives.

Likewise, Mohammad Shafillah has been appointed Vice Chairman of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

The government has further granted approval for several upcoming foreign visits by high-level officials, including the Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, to participate in international events.

Similarly, the promotion and placement of civil servants and ministry officials were also included among the recent decisions.
