NMSA submits memo to PM

KATHMANDU: The National Muslim Struggle Alliance (NMSA) has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Tuesday demanding formation of a constitutional Muslim Commission. A delegation, under the leadership of Alliance Coordinator Samim Ansari, reached Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar and demanded provision of Muslim rights in fundamental rights as well as to include 'Muslim' word in different articles of the new constitution for their different national identity. The memo demands proportional participation of Muslim community in all bodies of the state, operation and conservation of concerned religious sites and guthis (trusts), among others. The Alliance also urged the government to include the community in the list of 22 groups and communities enlisted by the Constituent Assembly for special rights.
